Illegal Aliens

A nation without borders ceases to be a nation altogether. But this is not just a border state problem. When I toured the border (on my own dime) in the summer of 2024, I saw that the border wall only slowed down the invasion. We must remove the incentive to come here at all. That's where my bills come into play. I’ve always said, “We can’t build a wall around Arkansas, but we can roll up the welcome mat.” After much research, I wrote and filed several bills to “roll up the welcome mat.”

Two of my bills became law. HB1512/Act624 requires state and local governments to verify that new employees are not illegal aliens.
Another, HB1823/Act947, prohibits cities and counties from issuing government IDs to illegal aliens, as Little Rock had been doing. I asked a colleague to be the lead sponsor on that bill.
Other bills I introduced:
• HB1655: Establishes offenses for human smuggling and harboring illegal aliens.
• HB1422: The “Only Citizens Vote Act” to prevent non-citizens from voting in our elections.
• HB1909: The “Public Services Only for Citizens Act” to block illegal aliens from accessing Arkansas welfare benefits.
• HB1569: The “Secure Roads and Safe Trucking Act” was to prevent illegal aliens from driving in Arkansas with a CDL issued in a state like California and to impose penalties for operating commercial vehicles without English proficiency. This was the first bill of its kind in America. Oklahoma has since passed similar legislation, and the Trump administration issued an Executive Order enforcing provisions of my bill federally, removing dangerous drivers from roads.
